The Link between Spirit Awareness, Creativity & Gender

I have observed that the design 'process' requires a combination of gender type characteristics. To start with, a seed of an idea comes from outside, and then grows concealed within the designer's mind, till one day it comes out into the open as the drawings start to be revealed. The design process continues to be closely nurtured by the designer, it develops, but gradually other people have more and more input and eventually take it over. This is all so much a 'Motherly' type story! However, a Designer must also bring back from the 'Outside World' whatever the design needs; parts, equipment, materials and other people's concepts. The Designer needs to have good spatial abilities, to manipulate the ideas in ones head. What I am saying is that this is neither solely a "Mars" characteristic nor a "Venus" characteristic, but where the two overlap! A designer needs to have both creative talent and rational ability, if we add to this the need for People Centred empathy, we require caring compassion as well as practical logic. Again it is centre spectrum of all the human attributes, or centre of the gender-spectrum!
I believe that allowing opposite gender characteristics to flourish within us, enables so much human progress.
I first started to notice this phenomenon after I heard an elderly (male) University Engineering Professor remark, " He wants the mother-hood of design " talking about the involvement of another Male Engineer!
If you look, this phenomenon can be observed in many professions where people are working at a high level. Islamic culture though, is typically very gender segregated, and Muslims are often embarrassed to admit that they are in this centre ground.
Being interested in Spirit Awareness; that is developing our psychic abilities to receive clearer impressions from Spirit, especially in a deliberate manner like during meditation: I found to my surprise that highly gifted Mediums teach the same need to be in touch with both our Male and Female sides if the communication is to be strong! For further information, look up the Sanskrit word "Chakra" meaning ‘Swirling Energy Centres’, and particularly: ‘Beyond the Seventh Chakra’ and ’Forth Dimensional Chakras’ !
Furthermore, when I am working Mediumistically myself, it feels exactly the same as when I am getting technical inspiration in my Creative Design work, like in a moment of detachment, a flash of inspiration comes across the mind which I know was different to my own thoughts, an impression or vision come from outside! For some time I did not connect these two activities as they are in such different fields, but the similarities are striking. Below is a description previously written by the Author on 'Design Method', showing the similarities:
"Creative and Rational Thinking
Rational thought is needed to focus the mind onto the precise problem in question, with all its needs, constraints and implications. However, the designer has then got to switch hats and enter a creative frame of mind, like that of an Artist. I can describe it as being very relaxed while being very awake at the same time. Creative thought though, has no direction to it! the mind just jumps in any direction making its connections.
Now the designer must change hats back again and revert to Rational mode of thought, to accept the parts of the creative inspiration that are useful, and re-focus the mind again in the right direction. With many alternations like this, a completely original design scheme or option is moved forward step by step. With practice, the mind can be made to alternate between the Rational and Creative modes of thought faster and faster. It feels most weird, almost like being two completely different people with opposing characters!
To assist ones creativity, there are a number of techniques including 'Lateral Thinking' as propounded by Dr Edward de Bono,
It is most important to be completely non-judgemental as this impedes creativity; ideas that at first may seem far-fetched must not be dismissed too early, as they can lead to our solution. Sometimes hybrid ideas emerge out of these different design schemes or options, which evolve into very practicable designs."

| A possibility to the association between, Spirit Awareness, Creativity and Gender might be around the fluidity or 'alternating interaction' (oscillation?) between the two hemispheres of the brain, whereby people who are by nature more in the centre of the 'gender spectrum', and as such neither hemisphere being dominant, so the required 'alternating interaction' can happen very naturally. The left hemisphere is known to process logical, linear thought and controls the right side of the body, whereas the right hemisphere processes intuitive, emotional and holistic thought and controls the left side of the body. Most people have one hemisphere more dominant than the other; there is some alignment to biological sex, but too many exceptions to state a norm. In REM (rapid eye movement) sleep, everyone is potentially receptive to Spirit impressions and to having Creative Ideas, when the two halves of their brain alternately interact, but only a few people seem able to do this while conscious! |
Further evidence supporting this theory is from the work of Dr Allen Botkin, Psychologist, and presented in his book 'Induced After Death Communication'. Dr Botkin when working with traumatized war veterans, discovered that a variation of the psychotherapy known as 'Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing', where the patient is asked to follow the Psychotherapists hand, causing alternating left / right eye movements, while at the same time as being guided by the Psychotherapist to focus their thoughts on the Core Issues to their trauma, next the Psychotherapist continues with the alternating eye movements but without any specific instructions, the patients then very often have communication with someone now in the Spirit world, demonstrably inducing after death communications. Dr Botkins postulates that the 'Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing' technique works in a manner similar to the type of sleep known as Rapid Eye Movement (REM) where the sub-conscious brain processes experiences of the day, but in trauma situations, the normal processing may be blocked, and stay blocked, causing the patients to suffer from traumatic memory and grief. By deliberately stimulating alternately the patient's right and left brain hemispheres while focusing the mind on the trauma, the patient appears to 'process' these blockages. Then further left – right stimulating without any given focus, induces the link with a Spirit, particularly a Spirit connected to their trauma experience.

The above describes phenomena of the physical world, but what of the Spirit World itself? I have investigated many accounts given in trance Mediumship, and they all say that ‘Sex or Gender is not the same in the Spirit world as it is in the earth life’ and that ‘It has no importance here’ My own psychic experiences of this were first a vision of my own spirit body having both testis and ovaries! and then suddenly, I had the insight that everybody’s Spirit Body was like this!
Here in the earth life, biology dictates the ideal of ‘Mother looks after the Baby, and the Father looks after the Mother’ Most Religions, particularly Islam heavily reinforce this biology, but in the Spirit world, this becomes meaningless! So it seems rather absurd some Muslim men claiming that Women should not have an active roll in Religion or the Mosque! (Masjid)
In an experiment I witnessed at Stansted Hall in June 2006, two Mediums went into trance in front of about 40 other people, once the Spirit Guides had come through, the mediums started talking in a different accent and different style of speech to their own, we the audience were invited to ask questions of the Spirit Guides. I asked the question: "In the spirit world, is gender different to how it is on the earth? "
The reply was: " Spirit is Spirit is Spirit ! Do not worry about this, it is of no importance "
In the Holy Qur’an there is also evidence, but most choose not to see it:
The 99 names of Allah, are they all masculine? What about Rahman and Raheem, do you realise that the root word ‘Rahm’ means womb!
So that must be feminine! So some names of Allah are therefore masculine and some names are feminine! But notice how the‘Bismillah hir-Rahman nir Raheem’ is often missed out in Prayer (Salat)!
In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the alternation of night and day, there are signs for those who possess intelligence. Qur’an 3:190

Spirits and Spirituality therefore seems to be Gender neutral, whereas the whole Muslim world is very gender segregated. Perhaps by reaching above this earthly life: If Muslim Men became more aware of the feminine side of their Spirit, and Muslim Women the masculine side of their Spirit; then by that appreciation, a more 'Spiritual Society' would emerge!
It is a case of static balance or dynamic balance! If in a society, all the men have purely masculine characteristics and all the women have purely feminine characteristics, then yes, the society as a whole is in static balance. But nature and our spirits are not meant to be static: like the balance of masculine and feminine within our own Spirit as well as in the society as a whole. It is the alternation or these opposites in nature that produces dynamic balance. Like with walking; Right foot forward, then Left foot forward, then Right foot forward, then Left foot forward and so on. If only one-half of the pair of opposites is totally dominant, like if ONLY the Right foot is allowed to move forward, then stagnation occurs, trying to move the Right foot even further forward is pointless! Dynamic ‘Alternation of Opposites’ is the way of nature and the way of spiritual connection.
Perhaps the most unrecognised 'Alternation of Opposites' is between looking inside the Qur'an and looking outside of it as well!
And what is 'Alternation of Opposites' over time? ...A Vibrating Wave form!
However, Spiritualists will never tell you what you should believe; you must reach your own understanding, and only accept that which appeals to your reason!
